ARTIST STATEMENT

My practice navigates the intangible of lived experience. The expression of my humanness is at the forefront of my artistry.  I utilize Western and graphic notation, my cello performance training, looping, synthesizer, DAWs, and found objects to create my sound world. In addition to music, animation, poetry, fiber arts, photography, sculpture, and visual programming are part of my practice as well. Exploring other mediums heightens my artistry, and allows for smoother communication in collaborations. My interests are rooted in exploring emotional depth; longing, nostalgia, frustration, anger, and tranquility are paramount in my work. The emotive qualities of music are not limited to pleasantries. I am concerned with how and why we empathize, and what arises internally when we decide to.
